The Essentials

I have a problem when it comes to packing; Too many shoes.  I wouldn’t say I travel a lot, but I have traveled enough to know what you can take on a plane, and what you shouldn’t even bother packing.  For example; I have perfected my ability to pack the perfect mix and match outfit pieces in my suitcase.  Always more tops than bottoms, and keeping a color scheme to be able to mix and match those pieces is key.  I always get stuck on the shoes.  I want to pack all my favorites!  It doesn’t work out in my favor.

When it comes to my makeup bag I keep a “to go” bag always packed and stored under the bathroom sink.  It makes my life a little easier when packing, and I know I already have what I need in there (just add my everyday moisturizers and I’m good to go).  Depending on my method of travel, I may need to replace one or two items, but generally I keep the bag plane-friendly.  Read on to check out my must have beauty essentials!

First up, is my favorite go-to foundation: Covergirl Aquasmooth.  It’s a cream, with a smooth liquid-like coverage, and available for around $8.  It’s perfect for on the plane because I don’t need to worry about ounces.  I use a brush to apply it, but it comes with a thin application sponge.

This next must-have isn’t plane friendly as it comes in an aerosol can (But I make sure to always pick it up once I arrive at my destination).  Batiste Dry Shampoo!  This is probably the best dry shampoo I have ever tried (and believe me, I have tried a lot).  It’s available at Ulta for around $7.99 (or $3.99 for the travel size).  It comes in all kinds of scents!  It doesn’t cause the normal greasy build-up like others do, and it actually leaves my hair looking fresh all day.

If you are interested in reading up on the Top 5 dry shampoos you can Click Here.  Reviews.com has done extensive research to find the best dry shampoo out there!  Batiste didn’t make number one, but it made the Top 5 as the best Drugstore dry shampoo!  If you have never tried dry shampoo before, then this article is amazing at explaining how to apply, what it’s for, and the best options for your hair!

My favorite everyday moisturizer is by Aveeno.  I love their Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer.  It has SPF 30 (which is great for pale skin like mine), and a little goes a long way.  I purchase mine from Ulta for around $16.99, but you can sometimes find it cheaper at places like Amazon.com or Walgreens.  I use Aveeno products for all my skincare needs!

One of the Brands I use the most is Nyx.  In my travel makeup bag you will find a plethora of their products.  The price for quality is great!  I make sure to always have the Nyx Concealer WandEpic Ink Liner, and Angel Veil Primer.  These are all must-haves when creating my everyday look on the go!  I always carry some of their butter glosses on me (the color depends on the season), but I always have their Velvet Matte Lipstick (Color: Charmed), in my bag.  The color is my absolute favorite, and looks like it was made for me.

Depending on the season, I might change out products and colors, but one must have that is always in my bag is Mascara!  Whether you are doing a full glam look, or just trying to look more awake, Mascara is always a must.  There are so many different types out there, and I am always switching out what I am using.  Right now I am loving Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara.

I buy the majority of everything at my local Ulta, but I love that I can also buy the most of these products at my local CVS or Walgreens.  It comes in really handy when I’m traveling and there isn’t always a beauty store to be found.

Do you have a must-have beauty product that is always in your bag?  Is it travel friendly?  Drop a comment below and let me know!
