I became an officially Certified Makeup Artist in 2012, but my love for makeup goes back years. I have always loved bold colors, and out of the box looks! You can see some of the makeup looks I have done on photo shoots under my “portfolio” tab. This post, however, is just about some of my favorite makeup looks I have done on myself.
I have a very fond relationship with the Covergirl Aquasmooth Foundation. In most of these photos, that is what I am wearing. For less than $10 you can get a beautiful coverage, that can be worn lighter or heavier, depending on how you apply it. (Smaller foundation brush means heavier coverage).
Now that I am living in South Carolina, I find myself not wanting to wear any sort of foundation when I go out. It is just too hot, and no one wants to feel like their face is melting off in the heat. For those days, I like to wear Aveeno CC cream. It gives me the right amount of coverage and tint, but I don’t feel like I have anything on.
Both products can be found at Ulta, or any local drugstore.
This first look, is my most natural, and takes only 10 minutes. I used the Aveeno coverage, with a white eyeliner on the bottom to brighten my eyes (tired mom status), and a pretty pink eye shadow from Urban Decay.
I tend to use a lot of Nyx, Urban Decay, and Kat Von D right now. Urban Decay and Kat Von D have some beautiful, bold pigments, that get the job done. Nyx is really expanding their line, and you get some great quality for the money. This next look is using the Covergirl Foundation, and Urban Decay eye shadows.
When I say I love bold color, I mean it. When Urban Decay came out with their Electric Palette (right around my birthday), I had it on pre-order. It is still one of my favorite palettes to use! This next look I call my “Barbie” makeup.
To give you an idea of what my skin looks like before foundation, the next photo shows a before and after. I used the Covergirl foundation. I am very pale, with freckles, and some minor sun damage from my childhood days of not wearing sunscreen. I tend to get dark circles very easily when I don’t get enough sleep. You can thank my daughters for that one.
My absolute favorite time of the year is October. I love the Autumn, and try to do some crazy makeup looks for Halloween. I will miss being in New England for the Fall Foliage this year, but I look forwards to my first Halloween in the south!
This next look was using my airbrush machine, with some cool stencils I found at the craft store. I also re-created this look on my oldest daughter for her school Halloween party, and she won most creative in the Halloween contest! (She was a dead pirate).
I have so many looks that I have created over the years, but when I am looking for something colorful and easy to do, I revert to my sunrise eyes. The next look is the makeup I tend to wear most often, because it is quick and easy, and I like the way it looks.
Last, and certainly not least, is this next look. I created it last night, using the Nyx glitter, and the Urban Decay electric Palette. I wanted to do something fun and fierce. It is a little over the top, and the glitter was a little difficult to work with, but that’s how you learn!
I live in the Charleston, South Carolina area, and I am always willing to collaborate! Message me with any questions, or interest in the products I used.
xoxo – Kat
It goes without saying that the Fourth of July is a pretty big celebration day in America! To help you celebrate in high style, I have created a few 4th of July inspired looks. You can shop these looks by heading on over to my Polyvore site. (Click Here).
This first look is more conservative, and so adorable! Don’t think you can handle the heels? Change them out for a cute pair of red sneakers!
The next look is for those of you that aren’t into the whole “Red, White, and Blue” look, but still want to look chic during the celebration.
If you are all about showing your American flag pride, this next look is for you! Isn’t that top great?
Still not keen on wearing Red, White, and Blue? Check out this sassy outfit! I am all about those shoes.
This last look is for my pin-up ladies, and fellow Navy Wives. Not only does this outfit look great for the 4th of July, but it also would make a great homecoming outfit!

Beauty Box 5
Beauty Box 5 (BB5) tends to stand out from the others with the statement “$12 a month and always $35+ in Products!”
BB5 is not only offering you some pretty nice samples, but you are also going to be getting some full size products mixed in as well! They also like to find you some “fresh finds,” instead of the same ol’ same ol’. Not bad for only $12 a month.

If vegan products are more your style, then you are going to want to check out Petit Vour. For $15 a month, you are going to get clean and cruelty-free, luxury beauty products. Score!
They are the more expensive of the boxes I have listed, and they are only sending you 4 products, instead of 5, but knowing no sweet animals were tested on, makes it worth it! You are even going to sometimes receive full-sized products! Petit Vour also lets you review their products each month for points towards full-sized products!
